“Everyone is replaceable.” (But what they really mean is…)
Feb 05, 2025
Ever seen a guy break up with his girlfriend and have a new one the next day—while the ex is still crying into her sleeve?
That’s what it can feel like when a visionary says:
“Everyone is replaceable.”
And actually means it.
If you’re second-in-command, you might find yourself completely caught off guard—especially if you’ve been loyal, dedicated, and quietly holding everything together.
Because of a visionary’s deep need for freedom and discomfort with emotional reliance,
they often don’t lean in—and instead reach for an exit strategy.
When you ask for a raise, advocate for clearer boundaries, or bring up sustainability concerns—
You might suddenly become “too expensive,” “too emotional,” or “not aligned anymore.”
It’s jarring.
It’s painful.
And it’s not about you.
It’s about a leadership style that sometimes prioritizes momentum over connection.
A tendency to move quickly, make hard calls, and avoid emotional discomfort in the name of freedom and progress.
If you’re second-in-command, you might find yourself caught in the crossfire—left wondering if your loyalty and effort meant anything.
But this isn’t about blame—it’s about awareness.
Because when you see the pattern, you can stop taking it personally…
And start leading yourself forward.
Here’s what to do instead of spiraling:
• Learn to self-validate (even when no one else is clapping)
• Track your impact and own your wins
• Speak up for your needs—your voice matters
• And never forget: you’re not just supporting someone else’s dream. You’re building your own.
And if you’re a visionary reading this?
This is your work:
• Notice when you’re pulling away out of fear, not clarity
• Choose transparency over detachment
• Understand that leadership means creating safety—not just casting vision
